How many years have you been a judge?

1-3 years

What was your first job in the industry? What did it teach you?

My first job in the industry was running sound and lighting at my local church when I was thirteen. It taught me early on how many moving pieces go into a production and the importance of teamwork to make it all come together.

What project are you most proud to have worked on?

A few years ago, I produced a series of short stories about families who immigrated to the United States and the nonprofit that supported them with education, food, and other essentials. I’m proud of that project because it showed the resilience of those families and the power of storytelling to shine a light on hope and community.

What’s the most challenging part about your job and/or the industry?

The most challenging part of this industry is balancing creativity with tight timelines and budgets. But I’ve found those challenges often push me and my team to be more resourceful, and that’s when some of the best storytelling happens.

What do you look for to determine excellence in video?

I look for work that feels authentic and connects on an emotional level. When a story is told with clarity, creativity, and heart and it stays with you long after you’ve watched, that’s excellence to me.

How do you unwind from work mode?

I unwind by spending time with my family, working in my garden, tending to my honeybees, and getting outdoors, whether it’s hiking, camping, or fly fishing, it helps me slow down and recharge.

What are your current roles and responsibilities and what do you love most about your job?

I’m the CEO of Glass Door Studios, where I help clients shape their strategy and vision and bring their goals to life on screen. What I love most is seeing those stories inspire and connect with people.

What initiatives or projects are you working on now that excite you?

I’m developing projects on sustainability that focus on beekeeping, Main Street businesses, and food stories that show how communities thrive when we take care of each other and our environment.
