How many years have you been a judge?

This is my first year!

What excited you about judging for the Telly Awards?

Being able to shape and preserve a high standard in the Telly Awards award process. The opportunity to see the creativity and interpretation of our medium all over the world.

What was your first job in the industry? What did it teach you?

My first job was editor for an entertainment magazine show. It taught me speed, resiliency and versatility in style, capabilities and tonality.

What project are you most proud to have worked on?

I’m proud of many of the projects I’ve completed. The Emmy Winning NBA Playoff Features and Documentaries I’ve won and or been nominated for. The poignant Killer Mike Essay during the George Floyd killing, My Co-Directed documentary about black single mothers that was recently picked up by Amazon Prime and Tubi, and my latest web series “Life In Italy”.

What’s the most challenging part about your job and/or the industry?

Balancing it all, plus traveling to see my daughter in Canada while going through divorce and life changes. The industry doesn’t care about your struggle or drama, and there is someone just as talented waiting to take your job/opportunity.

What do you look for to determine excellence in video?

I look for brilliant writing and execution done through a terrific marriage of the audio visual experience. Taking a stylistic approach to conveying your story new or old and presenting it with strong edit, carefully thought out shot execution, and an impactful subject matter or story that resonates from beginning to end.

What are your current roles and responsibilities and what do you love most about your job?

My role in LouardMedia, is to find new business, adapt to ever changing parameters, secure stories that need to be told, execute story from films/documentaries to features and social media content. I love deciphering what a brand, or film story should be and executing that to my best ability.

What initiatives or projects are you working on now that excite you?

I just created a web series of my travels in Italy. It’s a cathartic healing experience, sharing of culture and exploration in Italy, and shares the power of music.

Do you have any specific practices you lean on to spark creativity?

Watch tons of content, films, series and soak in the techniques and storytelling styles.

What inspired you to pursue your career path?

Just watching television, movies and seeing directors create projects with their distinct style.

In your experience, what is a significant change you are seeing happen in the video, television, and/or film industry, and what insight can you share about how to navigate it?

AI obviously. Adapting and incorporating it is an ongoing learning process.
