The National Association of Broadcasters kicked off their centennial celebrations at The NAB Show in Las Vegas, and the Telly Awards took a whirlwind trip to Sin City to present our Break Through The Static Film & Video Screening and get the inside scoop on our industry’s latest innovations. Thankfully, what happened in Vegas didn’t stay there—Telly Managing Director Amanda Needham documented her NAB experience in a series of videos highlighting new advancements in LED pixel-pitch for VR backgrounds, remote controlled studios, and exciting updates in After Effects.
1. Remote, Remote, Remote
The COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated the advancement of remote video technology in ways that were once thought unimaginable. With social distancing measures in place, many video production companies have turned to remote video tools to maintain productivity and ensure safety. These software tools have made it possible for team members to collaborate in real-time, from script development to post-production, regardless of their location.Furthermore, these software tools have also made it possible for video production companies to deliver high-quality content to clients in a timely and efficient manner. 2. Adobe After Effects Shoots for the Moon
After Effects has recently added new integrations to their properties panel, aimed at improving the workflow for motion designers by integrating Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator. These new integrations make it easier for designers to access and manipulate assets from these other programs directly within After Effects, without having to switch between applications. The seamless integration allows designers to quickly update and make changes to their designs without disrupting their workflow. Additionally, the properties panel has been updated to provide more information and control over the various elements of a design, making it easier to adjust and fine-tune specific aspects of a project. With these new integrations, motion designers can create stunning animations and visual effects more efficiently than ever before, saving time and increasing productivity.
3. Somethings Never Change
Foley sound is essential in creating a seamless audio experience that complements the visuals on screen. Foley artists have to be creative and resourceful to produce convincing sounds that match the action on screen. They often work in specialized studios equipped with different surfaces and props to create a range of sounds. Their work can greatly enhance the overall quality of a film, and their efforts often go unnoticed by audiences who take the sound for granted. However, without their creative input, the film would lack realism and depth.
