Meet one of our official partners, Stash Media. Since the early 2000s, Stash Media has been covering the unsung heroes of animation, design and VFX studios. By championing and recognizing the immense talent in these fields that often goes overlooked by traditional trade publications, Stash seeks to inspire their readers to new creative heights. Read more to learn about how they cover this side of the industry, and check out their motion design, animation and VFX-dedicated streaming service some people call “Netflix for creatives.”

What is the name of your organization and what is your area of focus in the film and video space?

Stash Media focuses on the talent powering the commercial design, animation, and VFX industry. We publish Stash Magazine (www.stashmedia.tv) – a daily news site, and The Stash Permanent Collection (https://www.stashmedia.tv/archive), the only video streaming platform dedicated to motion design, animation, and VFX – often described as Netflix for creatives.

What’s your organization’s origin story?

In the early 2000s, a friend who edited a trade magazine asked me to write articles on design, animation, and VFX. It soon became very clear the stars of the production and advertising press were live action directors with everyone else treated as supporting players. That bothered me as I knew there were so many extraordinary designers, animators, and VFX artists that deserved recognition. So, I rounded up two partners and launched Stash as a monthly DVD magazine in 2004.

What is your organization’s ethos and how does it set you apart from industry competitors?

Stash is all about keeping creatives inspired and that means surfacing a daily flow of interesting work. To do that, we track over 1,500 individual creatives and studios every day. That recon combined with curating the hundreds of submissions we receive each month takes serious time and effort.

What projects are you most proud of and why?

We’re definitely proud and thankful The Stash Permanent Collection has grown into a creative resource subscribers tell us is an essential part of how they work and stay inspired. The archive currently holds 6,500+ films and streams to thousands of creative professionals and hundreds of colleges and universities.

What initiatives are you working on that you’re excited about?

We recently launched Stashjobs (https://jobs.stashmedia.tv) to help connect design, animation, and VFX employers with the international Stash community. We’re currently working a new opportunity launching in the new year but is still hush-hush for now.

Where is there opportunity for collaboration or intersection between your community and the Telly community?
