Tell us about your Telly Award winning piece. What’s the story behind it?
Gleco Plating is a third generation manufacturer with dual operations in Rowlett and McAllen, Texas. They provide plating solutions primarily for household names in the automotive and aerospace industry. They approached us because they noticed the industry is changing and is leaning into marketing efforts, and wanted to share their story of longevity in the industry.
What are you most proud of about this piece? What was your biggest challenge during production and how did you solve it?
I was very proud of the coordination between our team and Gleco. Their facility was fully operational, and they allowed us to get whatever we needed for the film, and was willing to slow production for the day to make sure we got what we needed.
Can you share a behind the scenes story or fun fact about the making of your piece?
We were filming at their facility in McAllen. While we were taking a tour of the facility, we were informed that we were next door to a border patrol facility. It is a facility where illegal immigrants were detained for questioning. When it came time to fly our drone, we were given a warning to land, even though we obtained our clearance from the FAA. We had about 90 seconds before our drone was grounded, so I quickly got our shots that we needed, and grounded with about 5 seconds to spare. I was concerned that we were going to be questioned, but thankfully it ended up being a non-event.
