Tell us about your Telly Award winning piece. What’s the story behind it?
Happy Egg’s Heritage product stands out among its competitors and is renowned for its distinctly different look and taste. Their chocolate brown and light blue shells, as well as their incredibly tasty deep amber yolks, are loved by high end chefs and at-home foodies in the US and abroad. The story of why these eggs look and taste so good though was previously untold, and starts in Germany and Austria with one man’s choice to approach egg production very differently (Ludwig Hölzl).
What are you most proud of about this piece? What was your biggest challenge during production and how did you solve it?
Managing a schedule and the logistics of 9 locations across 3 countries over 5 days.
Do you have any advice to other filmmakers based on your career or your team’s approach to work?
Make every effort to truly understand your client’s aims – if you can do this you have a shot at making great work.
Can you share a behind the scenes story or fun fact about the making of your piece?
We filmed lots of chickens in a story about eggs but the highlight was getting to film chickens as they hatched – 20 of them!
