Tell us a bit about your organization and what your specialty is in the film and video space.
NOVAR Studios is a company specializing in trailers for television and cinema.
What is your organization’s ethos and how does it set you apart from industry competitors?
We are a french “one stop shop” based in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
How can people join or learn more about what you do?
Tell us about your Telly Award winning piece. What’s the story behind it?
We have submitted a trailer with themes that unite the United States and Canada.
What are you most proud of about this piece? What was your biggest challenge during production and how did you solve it?
Asking us to change the music in the trailer (which is the biggest change you can ask to a trailer editor) and being able to find a new song that has the same level of emotion as the first.
Do you have any advice to other filmmakers based on your career or your team’s approach to work?
Hear what the customer wants, but also listen to yourself. YOU are the artists and creators of emotions.
Can you share a behind the scenes story or fun fact about the making of your piece?
Although the film is in both French and English, we had to prioritize the French dialogue a little more since we were primarily targeting the French-speaking public in Quebec. The audience’s reaction was quite funny, with people saying things like, “How is it possible to have Vanessa Hudgens and Luc Picard in the same movie?!”
Tell us about the most memorable response you got from this work.
