Tell us about your Telly Award winning piece. What’s the story behind it?
Illuminate has become a holiday tradition in San Antonio, and we wanted to show why families keep coming back year after year. The challenge was capturing all of that wonder and excitement in just 30 seconds. For us, it was about inviting viewers into that world of light and magic so they would want to make it part of their own holiday memories.
What are you most proud of about this piece? What was your biggest challenge during production and how did you solve it?
That we captured the magic of Illuminate in a way that feels authentic. The spot really brings viewers into the experience. The toughest part was filming at night and making sure the lights translated on camera the same way people see them in person. It’s easy for footage to feel flat or lose that sense of scale. We solved it by mixing wide shots with close personal moments and adding the right touches in post to bring the vibrancy back to life.
Can you share a behind the scenes story or fun fact about the making of your piece?
One of my favorite moments during filming was watching kids run ahead of their parents, pulling them down the paths to see what was around the corner. That was real joy happening in front of us. We leaned into that when we edited the spot because it perfectly summed up what Illuminate is all about.
