Shreya Kulshreshtha is a Performance Studies scholar who works in multiple disciplines as an actor, filmmaker, and artist. She has an autofictional web series that she appears in on Vimeo OTT (formerly known as VH1). She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Culture and Media from The New School and a Master of Arts in Performance Studies from New York University. She has recently been involved in theatrical sketches, satirical stand-up, and learning clown. Some of the topics she has given talks on include “Framing ‘Monstrous’ Bodies: Assemblage as a method for Thinking and Visualizing” and “Tattoos as a form of Self-Governance” at NYU.

What was your first job in the industry? What did it teach you?
Actor — working with other actors.
What project are you most proud to have worked on?
My recent short film adaptation of Save Me The Waltz.
What’s the most challenging part about your job and/or the industry?
Finding distributors for short indie films.
What do you look for to determine excellence in video?
Coherency, vision, and aesthetics.
What are your current roles and responsibilities and what do you love most about your job?
My current roles include setting up my independent tattoo business; I love tattooing!
What initiatives or projects are you working on now that excite you?
Using trans aesthetics in an impactful way in my filmmaking.
