How many years have you been a judge?
1-3 years
What excited you about judging for the Telly Awards?
Coming from a background in AR design at Meta and now shaping video experiences at TikTok, I am fascinated by how technology democratizes storytelling. I’m excited to judge the Telly Awards to see how creators are pushing the boundaries of the moving image—from traditional screens to immersive digital frontiers. For me, it’s about discovering that perfect synergy between innovative craft and emotional resonance.
What project are you most proud to have worked on?
I am most proud of leading the design of TikTok’s ‘AI Alive’, a feature that leverages AI to breathe life into static photos. By transforming still images into dynamic videos, we’ve opened up a new dimension of creativity for our users. I’m particularly inspired by how this technology enables creators to produce more vivid content and explore unique use cases, bridging the gap between imagination and reality.
What’s the most challenging part about your job and/or the industry?
The biggest challenge is seamlessly integrating rapidly evolving technologies—like AR, VR, and AI—into the natural flow of storytelling. We are constantly tasked with lowering the technical barrier so that the tools don’t overshadow the talent. My goal is to ensure that these complex innovations feel intuitive, enabling a massive wave of creativity where anyone, regardless of their technical background, can become a world-class creator.
What do you look for to determine excellence in video?
For me, excellence in video is defined by its ability to break through the digital noise with clarity and creativity. I look for work that demonstrates a deep understanding of modern consumption habits—utilizing dynamic pacing, intentional visual design, and innovative formats to create a lasting impact. A truly excellent piece is one that empowers the audience to see the world through a new, more vivid lens.
What are your current roles and responsibilities and what do you love most about your job?
At TikTok, I design the core experiences for video creation and consumption, focusing on making storytelling intuitive for a global audience. What I love most is the sheer scale of impact—seeing how our technology empowers billions of creators to express themselves, share joy, and build communities. There is a profound sense of fulfillment in knowing that the tools I build help turn everyday moments into extraordinary digital narratives.
