How many years have you been a judge?
1-3 years
What excited you about judging for the Telly Awards?
The breadth of work across many categories and disciplines serves as great inspiration. It’s a fantastic opportunity to celebrate great work and elevate creative voices.”
What do you look for to determine excellence in video?
A unique voice, fearlessness in storytelling, aesthetic sensibility and cultural relevancy
What was your first job in the industry? What did it teach you?
Content manager for a music library. I was cataloguing, tagging and searching for music to be used in commercials. It taught me very quickly what kind of sound palettes, arrangements and creative choices work well against different kinds of images. Having that understanding laid the foundation for being able to create custom music in whatever style or emotion a project requires; and that, sometimes, the unexpected choice can bring a film to life.
What are your current roles and responsibilities and what do you love most about your job?
I’m a composer and creative director. I create original compositions and develop creative strategy for music and sound in advertising, branded content, sonic identities and experiential projects.
What initiatives or projects are you working on now that excite you?
I’m writing some music for the Delta Flight Museum in Atlanta. It’s refreshing to write music for a more intentional experience where people are actively choosing to engage with the project in real life, rather than passively consuming it, like they would a commercial that appears on their tv screens or phones.
