Welcome to the 48th Annual Telly Awards, where we honor excellence in video and television across all screens. This year, we want to see work that’s Made to Move. Whether you’re a filmmaker inspiring people to feel, a brand marketer or creator convincing people to engage, or a non-profit rallying people to give, your work has a place in our competition.
The Telly Awards announces two season partners for Season 48: ReelShort, the vertical streaming platform from Crazy Maple Studio, and The Nonfiction Hotlist, the curatorial platform championing independent nonfiction storytelling.
This season, we’re reflecting today’s evolving media landscape with a new suite of Microseries categories including Branded Entertainment, and expanded opportunities across TV & Online Shows from Sports Documentary to Virtual Production. In addition to new judges from organizations like FOX Creator Studios, PictureNorth, Sony, Whaler Group, True/ False Film Festival, and The Valuable 500, we’ve queued up a bunch of updated programming to feature how leaders across disciplines are reacting to, and taking advantage of, today’s opportunities.
The Best of the Tellys: One organization will be named Media Company of the Year, the Tellys’ highest distinction, by collecting the most Gold, Silver and Bronze honors across all categories. Our Production Company of the Year award is also back, recognizing the production house that achieves the most success across all media types, regardless of size or name recognition. This year, we’re adding a new Agency of the Year honor, recognizing excellence and versatility across genres.
Here’s a quick overview of the conversations, live events, and short-form video you’ll find on our new Events Hub and Features Page:
Throughlines is a conversation series that taps into the Tellys’ unique position as a connector across industry verticals to explore trending topics our community has a stake in. We’ll go behind-the-scenes of a branded digital series with InStyle, how non-profits are utilizing vertical video, and music video production with Warren Fu, the director behind videos with SZA, Daft Punk, Pharrell, and more.
Our global screenings are where our community––from large corporate agencies to small, independent creators ––comes together to view standout short-form work in person. This year, we’re kicking it off with our new partner ReelShort for an inaugural season premiere party in LA. We’ll be showing excellent work from MoMA, Oddbeast, Laufey and a sneak peak of their new vertical video IP. We’re also going to Miami and Chicago alongside New York, Atlanta, and DC.
Hot Takes, our candid video series, returns for its seventh season, with unfiltered insights on trending topics from the Co-founder of American Picture Company, the studio behind The Ick, on why quality beats quantity, the CEO of CreatorCamp on why creators are the next great commercial directors, and the host of the video podcast Well Played by theSkimm on why sports media should celebrate women on the field and in the business world.
