Tell us a bit about your organization and what your specialty is in the film and video space.
Hormiga Films is an independent production company led by Emmy Suncoast and Telly Award–winning filmmaker Orlando Adriani. With over 30 years of experience in the audiovisual industry, we specialize in cinematic storytelling that merges lifestyle, culture, and visual artistry. Our work spans documentary, branded content, and original series, always with a focus on authenticity and powerful imagery.
In the film and video space, our specialty lies in capturing real stories with a cinematic approach—whether on the open road, within communities, or through character-driven narratives. We thrive on blending professional production values with raw, on-location experiences that connect with audiences on an emotional level.
What is your organization’s ethos and how does it set you apart from industry competitors?
At Hormiga Films, our ethos is rooted in authenticity, creativity, and resilience. We believe that powerful stories emerge not only from technical excellence but from lived experiences, genuine human connection, and cultural exploration. Every project we take on is guided by a respect for craft and a commitment to inspire audiences through meaningful, visually striking narratives.
What sets us apart is our ability to merge cinematic quality with real, raw journeys—often captured under challenging conditions on the road, in diverse communities, or in unscripted environments. This blend of artistry and authenticity allows us to deliver work that feels both elevated and deeply human, distinguishing Hormiga Films from traditional production houses.

Tell us about your Telly Award winning piece. What’s the story behind it?
Our Telly Award–winning piece is part of Libélulas, a cinematic project that follows a rider named “Libélula” as she travels across the highways of the United States. The story goes beyond the motorcycle journey itself—it’s about freedom, resilience, and discovering the hidden culture of the road.
The piece was created under real travel conditions, often filmed with a minimal crew while riding long distances and encountering people authentically along the way. This raw and organic approach gave the work its unique visual energy and emotional depth. Winning a Telly Award for Libélulas was a milestone for us, as it validated our mission to merge cinematic artistry with genuine human stories from the road.
What are you most proud of about this piece? What was your biggest challenge during production and how did you solve it?
What we are most proud of about Libélulas is its authenticity—the fact that the piece captures the real experience of riding, exploring, and connecting with people on the road. The raw emotions and spontaneous encounters are what make it resonate with audiences, and bringing that honesty to the screen is our greatest achievement.
The biggest challenge during production was filming under unpredictable road and weather conditions with a minimal crew. We often had to adapt quickly, protecting equipment during storms, shooting in remote areas, and relying on creativity rather than resources. We solved these challenges by staying flexible, embracing improvisation, and turning those obstacles into opportunities that enriched the storytelling.
Do you have any advice to other filmmakers based on your career or your team’s approach to work?
My advice to other filmmakers is to embrace authenticity and resilience. Don’t wait for perfect conditions—tell your story with the resources you have, and let challenges shape the creative process instead of stopping it. Some of the most powerful images come from unexpected moments when you adapt and keep going.
Also, never underestimate the importance of collaboration. Surround yourself with people who share your passion and values, and treat every project as an opportunity to grow together as a team.
Can you share a behind the scenes story or fun fact about the making of your piece?
One fun behind-the-scenes fact is that much of Libélulas was filmed during real road trips with no controlled sets or rehearsals. On one occasion, while riding through the Florida Everglades, sudden rain forced us to cover the camera gear with our own jackets and keep filming on the move. Instead of stopping, we embraced the moment, and the footage captured the raw beauty of the storm and the resilience of the journey. Those unplanned challenges became part of the authenticity and spirit that define the project.
Tell us about the most memorable response you got from this work.
One of the most memorable responses came from a fellow rider who told us that watching Libélulas made him relive his own first cross-country journey. He said the piece reminded him that riding is not only about the machine but about the freedom, resilience, and human connections found along the road. Hearing that our work could spark that sense of identity and inspiration in others was a powerful confirmation of why we created this project.
