Tell us about your Telly Award winning piece. What’s the story behind it?
We received a Silver Award in the Children’s category, for our opening video song for “Jax & Maizy.” “Jax & Maizy” is a project based on our actual Schnauzer babies. So, if you’re a dog lover, you should enjoy this direction. The long-term idea is to produce short stories/shows based on the endless imagination of these two pups, and the new adventure they find themselves in, in each episode.
What are you most proud of about this piece? What was your biggest challenge during production and how did you solve it?
I am proud to have a conceptual brand, such as “Jax & Maizy” which will bring adventures to life of my actual pups, as they are part of the family. I am very proud of the theme song, and how it is completely fitting with their personalities. The biggest challenges are probably similar to other creators – time, funding, and resources.
Do you have any advice to other filmmakers based on your career or your team’s approach to work?
Have an open mind, never stop creating or learning, and always approach every task with grit.
Can you share a behind the scenes story or fun fact about the making of your piece?
I spent a few afternoons playing outside with Jax and Maizy, in order to get a feel for the various fictional characters/settings which I wanted to focus on in the opening trailer. It honestly didn’t take long to compile a list, given how playful and energetic our two dogs are.

Tell us about the most memorable response you got from this work.
Winning a Telly gave the company some local visibility, including an article write-up in the Georgia Entertainment magazine. Given we are just starting out as a company, this type of visibility was flattering for Imagination Square Studios overall.
