Tell us about your Telly Award winning piece. What’s the story behind it

The story behind “Horsepower: Harnessing Hope” was to capture the impact of Horsepower’s organization. They are focused on providing equine and hippo-therapy to disabled individuals. This unique form of therapy allows disabled individuals to have a free range of motion. Our focus for this story was to highlight key individuals who have been positively impacted by Horsepower’s life-changing therapy.

Do you have any advice to other filmmakers based on your career or your team’s approach to work?

Advice I’d give to other filmmakers is to find stories that connect to you personally. When we have lived experience and can connect with the subjects in our stories, it allows us to go deeper than surface-level filmmaking. Find real stories you are passionate about and go all in to make the best piece you can.

Tell us about the most memorable response you got from this work.

We received many memorable responses to this piece. It premiered at a private fundraiser for the organization, where we helped cultivate an emotional connection to the life-changing impact Horsepower is having on its clients. Specifically, when Avery, who deals with cerebral palsy, stated in an interview that Horsepower “allows me to feel free”, her mother Mindy was brought to tears. We truly saw a huge impact in additional support for Horsepower through creating this short brand story video.
