Tell us about your Telly Award winning piece. What’s the story behind it?

We had a wonderful opportunity with our Australian partners at 101 Music to have a song we created with independent artist, GANYOS, to be the anthem to the NZ SkyMovie January Promo Trailer. The song “The Show” was a perfect way to get audiences hyped about what was coming down the pipeline with SkyMovies and the anthemic tone with the lyric of “It’s time to start the show!” fit perfectly to get people hyped about the film and TV shows being announced on the platform.

What are you most proud of about this piece? What was your biggest challenge during production and how did you solve it?

We are the incredibly proud of our team for creating such a fun, energetic, and universal anthem. Finding the sweet spot in creating a song that feels great across so many different stories is always a bit challenging. Balancing everything from the production to the writing to the performance so it feels like it was custom-made for a variety of storylines is such a delicate line to walk. That’s why we are especially proud to have been able to collaborate with the amazing band, GANYOS, who had such a strong vision on how to bring such a universal hype anthem to life that feels both epic and inviting!

Do you have any advice to other filmmakers based on your career or your team’s approach to work?

Trust your team! Especially if there are people that have new ideas and have experience in a certain aspect of the creative process. Creativity is such a collaborative space and giving room for people to play around and create in can lead to some amazing art and invaluable memories and relationships.
