Kristen Heim is an Associate Producer for CSC; with more than eight years in strategic communincations, media relations, public affairs, community outreach and marketing. During her eight years with CSC she’s specialized in government-wide acquisition contracts. Kristen has overseen strategic communications, development of communication materials, marketed major event planning activities, managed multi-service video productions and supervised production of video news releases used during congressional budget testimonies.
As an Associate Producer for CSC, she’s managed global video productions for the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) and the Missile Defense Agency (MDA). Kristen’s exceptional planning and scheduling competencies and impeccable attention to detail are consistently leveraged to deliver communication projects on time. This success has resulted in an increase in government contract renewals and new business for the company as well as several industry and government awards.
Kristen’s contributions to the film and video industry extend past her “day job”. As the Vice President of Development for Women in Film & Video (WIFV), she manages the development team and marketing materials to present to businesses, which have increased revenue. She’s implemented the task force and strategic planning, and responsible increasing the organization's revenue stream.
Kristen was born and raised in the Washington D.C. area. She lived in Rome, Italy for five years as a teenager and went to college in North Carolina, but Washington is the place she calls home. Kristen traveled frequently with her family and was fortunate to see much of the United States and Europe while growing up. Since then she has added even more stamps to her passport, with journeys in Egypt, Japan, Australia, and return trips to Europe.
Her hard work, leadership and innovation as an Associate Producer at CSC has paid off. She won her first Bronze Telly Award in 2002 for Roving Sands, an 18-minute film documenting the world's largest joint theater air and missile defense exercise. In 2005, she won a Bronze Telly Award in the political campaign category for BMDS the Historic Beginning, in her first 20-minute high definition film highlighting the work and accomplishments of the men and women who have made the Ballistic Missile Defense System a reality. In 2006, she won two Silver Telly Awards in public relations and government relations for her work on A Day in the life of Global Ballistic Missile Defense, a 28-minute high definition film highlighting the Global Ballistic Missile Defense technology and the teams protecting the world from emerging threats. In 2007, she won a Bronze Telly Award in government relations for Optimizing Global Layered Defenses, a 28-minute high definition film highlighting the global layered ballistic missile defenses and the command and control structure.
CSC recognized her efforts of outstanding video support for the Missile Defense Agency with the Joint Missile & Air Defense Award of Excellence award in 2004.
Her eagerness to meet new people and explore new challenges works well within her chosen communication industries: media relations, strategic communications, marketing and public affairs. Kristen provides exceptional leadership outside her full-time job volunteering in her local community and professional organizations. She is a member of Women In Film and Video and Fairfax Public Access.
