Biography: Miriam Machado-Luces is an Emmy and multiple Telly award winning producer, writer, director and President of TVA Media and TVA Productions,Ltd.. (TVA) Her career began in corporate & government video productions and sales. Miriam segued into the entertainment industry by assisting on music videos. She also worked with Discovery Networks, ZGS Communications, the US Veterans Administration, the Apollo Theater in New York and many other productions as a freelancer.

Currently Miriam is a documentary film-maker and freelance producer. Recently Machado-Luces, produced a short film entitled “Mission Critical” with director Karen Cox, starring critically acclaimed actress; Tanya Wright of HBO’s True Blood series. Machado-Luces’ creates products for many clients including; BET Networks, DoubleBack Films, KAB Productions, the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation, the Environmental Protection Agency and JonJen Creations, LLC.

In 2010 Miriam served as an Associate Producer on the film; The New “N” Word by Sowande Tichawonna,. Machado-Luces also produced, wrote, and directed the following productions; Caribbean Visionary a documentary film on A.R. F. Webber; 30 Years of Women Making Film in DC, an oral history project; a series of Public Service Announcements on Bed Bugs for the EPA in English & Spanish; and the brand image campaign for Rivera’s Tostonera.

TVA was created in 1993 as a DC area film & video production company. Machado-Luces leads many productions for a diverse group of clients. Miriam produced a PSA and an award-winning documentary for Peace Journey, a global peace seeking organization. In addition, Machado-Luces went on to develop programming, create promotional campaigns and advertising for BET, BET Jazz, BET International, BET Event Productions and BETJ. Miriam’s range of experience is expansive. While working with the Viacom / BET Networks, her talent was utilized on various productions - from thirty second spots/promos, marketing presentations and advertisements to live concert performances, live award shows, to award winning bilingual, international documentaries.

Born in Caracas, Venezuela and raised in a multi-lingual Afro-Caribbean household, Miriam’s pride in her roots is the foundation upon which her production career is built. She creates content with multi-cultural audiences in mind and tells their stories genuinely – often imbued with the engaging culture and continuing evolution in today's global society.

She received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Broadcast Journalism & Business Management from Howard University in Washington, DC. Miriam currently resides in the Washington, DC area with her daughter, Desideria; son, Louis; brother, Pedro and the family’s Shetland Sheep dog, Bella.
