JOSEPH CONSENTINO • TELEVISION PRODUCER • DIRECTOR • CAMERAMAN
In addition to Sandra Consentino, his filmmaking and life partner, Joseph Consentino has two other great passions in his career – documentary film and baseball.
For twenty-five years, network and cable television documentary specials produced and directed by Joseph and Sandra Consentino have received every major award in American television and international film festivals. Included are three television EMMY Awards, an OSCAR "Short Film" nomination, the HOT DOCS Award, Moondance Film Festival "Columbine Award", "Chris Award" (Columbus Film Festival, and numerous TELLY and CABLE ACE Awards.
Among the Consentino’s numerous award-winning television documentaries are TNT’s “Muhammad Ali: The Whole Story”; “Family Values: The Mob & The Movies” and The History Channel’s award-winning mini-series, “Mouthpiece: Voice for the Accused”. In 1991, the PBS documentary “Days of Rage: The Young Palestinians” drew the largest audience in the history of American public television. In October 2007, their latest film, “Baghdad Diary”, a two-hour documentary on the Iraqi war and it’s aftermath will be broadcast on the History Channel.
In 2004, Joseph Consentino founded The Ridgefield Playhouse Film Society and was named artistic director.
In 1993, this former professional baseball player in the Boston Red Sox organization, founded the NECBL, The New England Collegiate Baseball League, a summer collegiate program that has sent hundreds of it’s alumni into professional and Major League Baseball.
