| Biography: |
Michael Yonchenko, Founder and President of Direct Health Media, Inc, graduated cum laude from the City University of New York in 1976, with a degree in Film and Television Production. Early in his career, Yonchenko was a Producer/Director for Hewlett-Packard’s Computer Marketing Group where he wrote, produced and directed video training programs and worked in the development of live videoconferences via satellite. Later, he was manager of Video Production for the Division of Instructional Media at Stanford University Medical Center, where he produced numerous instructional programs for many campus departments including the School of Medicine, the Graduate School of Business, the Law School, and the School of Engineering. In 1983, Michael formed Yonchenko Communications (later to become Cogent Communications) to produce videotapes, videodiscs and interactive videoconferences for the pharmaceutical, medical, health and food industries. Cogent Communications continues to be a leader in the production of high caliber, cost-effective health-related electronic media. In 2003 Yonchenko formed Direct Heath Media, Inc. Cogent Communications and DHM are a hybrid a non-profit production company. DHM was founded to provide health-related electronic media to patients and other health consumers at no charge to them. DHM is an outgrowth of the 35+ years of experience that Yonchenko has had in producing health information programs. DHM productions are funded by unrestricted education grants from foundations and corporations around the world. Yonchenko has won of 80 national and international awards including a 2007 Jefferson Award from the American Institute For Public Service in Washington, D.C. As of January 2009 DHM has distributed over 60,000 bilingual, interactive DVDs.
